
Apple and AT&T’s exclusivity contract was for 5 years, starting Summer 2007.Last I checked, it isn’t 2012 yet. It may not be a fixed date. There may be performance clauses and conditions in the contract that modify the time period. 5 years may be the maximum.
T-Mobile USA is an interesting proposition for the mere fact that it’s a GSM network, though its 1700 / 2100 3G network remains ostensibly incompatible with the iPhone 4′s existing radio.
Deutsche Telekom’s CEO René Obermann already told the Financial Times that T-Mobile is getting the iPhone. ”T-Mobile USA is hoping to start selling the popular smartphone later this year or next year,” he said.
According to Cult of Mac, a “highly placed source” at T-Mobile let it slip that they’ve got an 80 percent chance of getting the iPhone in Q3. Now, that’s an oddly specific number, and we have no idea what it’s contingent on, or how much exactly this source knows.
